Outreach

We at the Schoharie Reformed Church believe living in community means there are times when we all need to give and serve others, as well as times when we all need to receive from others.  Growing in God means both giving and receiving as a part of authentic community.  We believe in mutuality and reciprocity:  we are all givers and receivers of God’s love and grace!  We seek to continually reach out to assist with local needs in our community, as well as support local and regional service organizations by using our God given gifts as we are able.

We share a local food pantry with the Schoharie United Presbyterian Church.  It is housed in the Presbyterian church education building and is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from noon – 2 p.m.

We also volunteer and donate to help support the shelters in our area, including City Mission of Schenectady and City Rescue Mission of Albany.

We also believe in being good stewards of God’s creation.  We have an electronic recycling program.  We also encourage supporting our local businesses, including our local farms, and healthy living options such as Schoharie Fresh.

Our outreach also collects needed items for the local schools and Schoharie County Community Action Program, aluminum tabs for Shriners, adopts families at Christmas, and continues to seek out ways to meet needs and offer support in our community and beyond.

Offering confidential benevolence emergency funding to those in need is another way we joyfully serve.
