Our Purpose
Faithwalking is a spiritual formation process where people are increasingly following the way of Jesus, experiencing ongoing transformation, and developing effective practices for missional living: serving the poor, the marginalized, and those in need; working for the common good; and restoring individuals, social systems, communities, and nations to God’s intended design.
What We Do
We teach, coach, and empower leaders of communities to equip their communities to live the fully human, fully alive life that Jesus lived. Our core work centers around helping you and those in your community to master the work of spiritual formation, inner healing, emotional transformation, and missional living.
The Faithwalking Core Four is a series of four transformation learning experiences where we teach, coach, and empower you to master the components of the transformational journey. You will gain mastery in the areas of spiritual formation, inner healing, emotional maturity, and missional living.
The core four includes FW 101, FW 201, FW 202, and FW 301.
See below for details and links to discover more about the four core FW courses!
FW Core Four
-
Faithwalking 101 is the beginning of your spiritual formation process. During 101 participants hear presentations about being fully human and fully alive according to God’s design and how that makes a difference in their world. FW 101 is usually offered in a few different formats, a two-day retreat or a multi-dayretreat, or as a series.
-
The next step in the core four is Faithwalking 201. FW 201 is a 24-week biweekly seminar series, meeting online, that provides participants with practices and conceptual tools for partnering with God in doing the work of personal transformation in your life. Building on what you learned in Faithwalking 101, you will be given a set of tools that are designed to help you engage a lifelong journey of personal transformation.
-
Faithwalking 202 is designed to deepen participants understanding and more fully integrate the transformational practices introduced in 101 and 201. FW 202 is held online over 13 weekly meetings where you will discuss what you are learning, what you are getting present to in your own life, and how you apply what you are learning to continuously live into your preferred future more.
-
The other advanced course within the core four is Faithwalking 301. FW 301 looks to increase your capacity to love like Jesus loved and to develop a deeper understanding of what it means to live on mission with God in the world. 301 is held over 10 weekly meetings online. Like 202, in these meetings, you will discuss what you are learning, what you are getting present to in your own life, and how you are applying what you are learning to continuously grow in your capacity to work for the common good by joining with God in God’s ongoing mission in the world.
Over the last decade, Faithwalking has become a spiritual formation movement, with circles all across the U.S. and Canada (as well as Guatemala and Spain), which have reached beyond denominations and theologies to bring together disciples of Christ who are living on mission with God.
We in the New York Faithwalking Circle thoroughly believe as Richard Rohr teaches that "Transformed people transform people." Before we can begin to look at how we might transform our families, workplaces, congregations, and communities, we must seek to do the courageous work in the Holy Spirit of our own transformation.
The NYFWC is dedicated to journeying alongside all of Christ's disciples, across NY and throughout the region, as we learn together what it means to live the fully human, fully alive life God created each of us to be. In this journey of spiritual formation, inner healing, emotional maturity, and living on mission with God, we trust the Spirit to work in each of us and all of us.
